Zoey zane:A man who fled to Mexico to avoid prosecution in the murder of a Kansas college student has been returned to the United States to face charges in her death.

Israel Mireles was returned to Butler County, Kansas Thursday and made his first court appearance Friday.

He is charged with murder, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy in the 2007 death of 18-year-old Emily Sander.

Prosecutors asked that Mireles’ bond be raised to $3 million because he fled to Mexico.
